About Me
Professional
I have 8 years of experience providing counseling and therapeutic services in New Orleans. I've worked in clinical and leadership roles for organizations providing substance use and mental health care at the residential and intensive outpatient levels of care. I am a licensed professional counselor and a licensed addiction counselor in the state of Louisiana. I have specialized training in Internal Family Systems and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. I currently work as a counselor providing substance use and dual diagnosis care to clients at an intensive outpatient program in Uptown, New Orleans.
Personal
I'm a lifelong New Orleanian and received my M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of New Orleans. I enjoy photography, live music, film, traveling, being a lousy golfer, and spending time with my friends and family. I have a behaviorally-challenged dog named Dimitri for whom none of my therapeutic interventions have been successful.
My Approach
I believe that the foundation of effective counseling is the therapeutic relationship between client and counselor. A client needs to feel safe, accepted, and comfortable to do the emotionally challenging work that often arises in sessions with a therapist. We will collaborate on needs, interventions, and timelines to ensure progress on your identified goals. I incorporate humor, psychoeducation, and gentle confrontation in my work once we've established a strong rapport. In my years of experience treating diverse populations and presenting problems, I've found that each client has unique, individualized needs and no one approach fits all. Virtual sessions enable a client to seek therapy from the comfort of their home, but it is important to have a stable network connection and a decent microphone/camera. My evening and weekend availability offers clients the opportunity to seek care outside of normal working hours. I am only able to accept self-pay clients at this time. If you need help with the costs of therapy, reach out to me, and we'll see if we can work something out. If not, I'll make sure we find you a provider that works for your specific situation.
